Theoretical Lens

Goshen’s Vision and Mission are informed by the World Systems Theory, and our subsequent understanding of the limits of national development directs us to find alternative solutions in the ABCD Model (For Social Justice), and the Planetary Boundaries Framework (For Environmental Sustainability). Therefore, Goshen’s Mission of building Institutions, Systems and Processes to deliver on Social Justice and to promote Environmental Sustainability find inspiration in seminal works such as Julius Nyerere’s African Socialism, John Rawls’ Theory of Justice, Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics, Arne Naess’ Deep Ecology, Satish Kumar’s Reverential Ecology and Thomas Berry’s Earth Community as well as the great works of the African Ecological Theology Network.
